This was a 3D printed project inspired by a variety of existing designs to accomplish three tasks for the IC-705:
- Protect the front panel and controls
- Provide a convenient way to carry the rig
- Tilt the face of the rig up at a good viewing angle
Although several of the existing designs I found had some of these elements, none of them incorporated all three in one model.
The frame and supporting parts are printed in a matte finish PLA, with extra heavy sidewalls and infill to minimize flexing.
The last photo shows the kit of 3D parts and hardware that go into the assembled frame. The frame is assembled with bolts and heat-set brass threaded inserts.
